How to prepare for NEET Exam 2021

The NEET exam 2021 will be conducted on 12th September 2021 and all candidates are at the crucial stage of their final preparation. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination, commonly known as “NEET” is the common medical entrance examination conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). With the enforcement of the National Medical Council Act, 2019, from 2020 onwards, the NEET exam has become a mandatory entrance examination for admission to MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BSMS/BUMS/BHMS courses in all government medical institutes and also the admissions to AIIMS and JIPMER.

The preparation during the last weeks matters a lot and it is a critical task to reach a good position in the rank list. You can read about the exam pattern, eligibility, and last-minute preparation tricks for NEET 2021.

NEET Eligibility

A student must be at least 17 years of age and must also score a total of at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the 12th standard to be qualified to write the exam.

NEET Exam Pattern 2021

NTA has introduced a new exam pattern for the NEET 2021 exam. According to the revised exam structure, the NEET question paper will be divided into two sections: Section A and Section B for each topic (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology).

Section A

Section A of the NEET question paper comprises 35 questions, for each subject and each question will carry 4 marks. There will be a penalty of 1 mark for each wrong answer.

Section B

In section B of the NEET question paper, each subject would have 15 questions and candidates can attempt any 10 of those. Each question will carry a total of 4 marks.

So, in section B of each subject, candidates will be given 5 additional questions to choose from and answer. There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for every incorrect answer.

Last-minute preparatory tips

As the exam is closing in, candidates will look for the tools to polish their skills. The last-minute preparation tips can help you in maximizing your output for the NEET examination. Time is the most important factor during this phase of your preparation. It is mandatory not to get over-stressed on the exams; wellness is the basic requirement for any exam you write.

  • Invest your time in the revision

Revision is the best tool to sharpen your skills and increase your memory power. To reinforce the facts, you should revise everything you have ever studied for NEET. No matter how much you have studied unless you can recollect the information during the exam. Remember to give extra time for the important and the topics you find difficult to learn.

  • Avoid studying new topics

This is a common piece of advice given to every candidate who prepares for any competitive exam. Unless you have left a very important topic, you shouldn’t begin to study a new topic. If you start a new topic, you may become panicked and lose track of time for revision.

  • Revise the formulas, graphs, and other diagrams

Information presented in the form of graphs, tables, diagrams, and other visual aids is brief and easy to recall. With these, you can cover a lot more area. Similarly, flow charts and diagrams can aid in remembering the phases of any process.

  • Attend mock tests

To boost your time management skills and to identify your weaker topics, attending a full-length mock test is the best tool. Work on the areas where you lose more marks.
