As part of the new approach, Kerala PSC has now introduced a two-tier exam system for most of the posts. Tier 1 is a common preliminary exam conducted for several posts that require the same qualification. The preliminary exam is only qualifying in nature. And a Tier 2 – the main exam is conducted for the candidates who clear the preliminary exam which is specific for a post. In the case of secretariat assistant, a common degree level preliminary exam and the main exam specific for the post of secretariat assistant is conducted. The preliminary exam includes 100 questions with four options for each question. For every right answer, you will get one mark and a penalty of 1/3 marks for each wrong answer.

Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess a degree and B.Ed./BT in the subject either concerned or conferred or recognized by the Universities in Kerala.

What is the exam pattern for High School Teacher (HST) / High School Assistant (HSA) 2021?

A statewide written/OMR/Online Test is conducted for the post and a separate rank list is prepared for each district. There will be 100 questions for100 marks. Each right answer will give you one mark while each wrong answer will lead you to a penalty of 1/3 marks. The total duration of the exam is 75 minutes.

The exam consists of two parts, part A and part B. Part A is a common paper and part B is the core subject (History).

  • Module III: Methodology of teaching the subject

What is the exam pattern for the common degree level preliminary exam?

As part of the recent changes made in the examination pattern, for all degree level posts there will be preliminary and main exams. The preliminary exam will be OMR-based Multiple choice (four choices for each question) Questions with 100 questions for 100 marks. There will be negative marks for every wrong answer. Each right answer gets one mark and 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. The duration of the exam will be 75 minutes. The preliminary is qualifying in nature. A candidate who qualifies the prelims is eligible to write the mains exam.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR SECRETARIAT ASSISTANT EXAM

Kerala PSC Secretariat Assistant Study Plan 2021

The assistant/auditor examination commonly known as the secretariat assistant examination is one of the most sought-after degree level exam conducted by the Kerala PSC which provides with excellent career opportunity. Being the most sought-after graduate exam, the Secretariat assistant exam has been the dream of many aspirants. This examination is conducted for the positions in Government Secretariat, Kerala Public Service Commission, Advocate General’s Office (Ernakulum), Local Fund Audit Department, vigilance Tribunal, Special Judges, and Enquiry Commissioner Office. So, this article will help you to make a brief understanding of the examination pattern and preparation.

What are the eligibility criteria, pay scale, and number of vacancies?

Candidates should have passed Graduation in any faculty from a recognized university or its equivalent and should have the age between 18 and 36 years (Relaxations are also available please see notification LINK). The pay scale for secretariat assistant is ₹ 27800 – 59400/ month. Vacancies for the post are not estimated and the candidates included in the list will be appointed against the vacancies reported during the period of the validity of the list.

What is the secretariat Assistant exam pattern?

For many years PSC followed a single Objective exam for Secretariat Assistant posts. However part of the recent changes in the examination pattern all posts Kerala PSC has announced a major change in the secretariat assistant examination also. There will be preliminary and main exams. The preliminary exam will be OMR-based Multiple choice (four choices for each question) Objective Questions with 100 questions for 100 marks. There will be negative marks for every  wrong answer. Each right answer gets one mark and 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. The duration of the exam will be 75 minutes.

Candidates secure above the Cut-Off marks will be included in the main list. Cut off marks for the last secretariat assistant exam was 75.33 and 1006 candidates were included in the main list. Compared to the previous year’s exams, the last exam had a higher cut-off since PSC reduced the number of candidates included.
