How To Prepare For Kerala PSC Fireman/Firewomen Exam?

Since the completion of the 12th level preliminary exam, candidates have been eagerly awaiting the Kerala PSC Fireman/ Firewoman Exam. Fireman and firewoman recruitment is held for the Kerala fire and rescue department. As this is the first time that women are being recruited into the fire and rescue department, this exam is quite important. Kerala Public Service Commission will soon announce the dates for the main exam while the syllabus for the same is already uploaded on the official website.

Scale of Pay

 Rs. 20,000 – 45,800

Number of Vacancies

The number of vacancies is not yet declared for the fireman recruitment; however the recruitment will be done against the vacancies being reported during the existence of the rank list.

Vacancies for firewomen: a total of 100 vacancies are reported for firewomen and the distribution of vacancies is as follows.

Note:- The proficiency in swimming will be tested by a practical test conducted by the commission. The following are the criteria for the swimming test.

 (i) 50m swimming trial to be completed within two minutes.

 (ii) Two minute floating ability at the deeper sides of the swimming pool.

Candidates must qualify both the events to be considered as qualified in the swimming test.

Firewoman Qualification:

  • Must not be less than 152 cms in height (without footwear)

Note: In the case of SC/ST candidates the minimum height measurement shall be 150 cms.

  • Must have proficiency in swimming

Kerala PSC fireman/women exam pattern and syllabus

A total of 100 questions are asked for 100 marks. A right answer gives one mark while a wrong answer leads to a penalty of 0.33 marks.

Selection Process

A common preliminary examination: As part of the new rules, PSC has introduced a two-tier examination system to all the 10th,12th and degree level posts. A preliminary examination is conducted for multiple posts which require the same educational qualification.

Main examination:  The cut off is decided by PSC based on the number of vacancies, level of the examination, number of candidates attending the exam and many other factors.  Candidates qualifying the prelims can write the main examination specific to each post.

Physical test: Candidates who clear the main exam are shortlisted for the physical test. A candidate has to qualify five out of 8 items in the physical test. A final rank list is made based on the marks in the main examination where the physical test is qualifying in nature. A separate rank list is generated for each district, and the cut-off may differ from district to district depending on the number of vacancies and other factors.

Selection Process

From 2021 Kerala PSC introduced a two-tier examination system for all 10th, 12th, and degree level exams. The selection process for the civil excise officer includes 

1. Preliminary Exam

A common examination is conducted for various posts that require a minimum qualification of 12th level. The preliminary exam is qualifying in nature and candidates clearing the cut-off of the prelims are eligible to write the main examination. The cut-off depends on the number of candidates, level of the examination, vacancies, and many other factors. 

 2. Main Examination 

A separate main examination is conducted for the various posts and the candidates qualifying for the main exam can attend the physical test. 

3. Physical Test 

A Physical Efficiency Test will be conducted by the commission to assess the physical efficiency of the candidates. Candidates must qualify in at least 5 out of 8 items in the physical efficiency test showing the minimum standards of efficiency

Indian Supreme Court Rejects Plea To Postpone NEET 2021 Exam. Here’s What You Need To Know

The Supreme Court of India has rejected the writ petition to postpone the NEET exam which is to be conducted on 12th September 2021. According to the Supreme Court, over 16 Lakhs of students from all over the country will be appearing for the NEET exams and so it cannot be deferred for few students who said their entrance exams will be clashing with other exams.

 The Supreme Court has clearly mentioned that It doesn’t want uncertainty and it will not entertain this petition and would like the exam to continue. Adding to the statement, The bench said that the careers of students cannot be put under jeopardy and so, it decided to conduct the exam as per schedule.

After the Supreme Court rejecting the petition to postpone NEET 2021, medical aspirants are urging the honourable education minister Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan to intervene & reschedule the NEET entrance test. More students are expressing their disappointments through social media like Facebook and Twitter.

At this situation, the latest information is that, the NEET 2021 admit cards are likely to be released on September 09, 2021. The students who applied for the examination can download the admit card through the official site neet.nta.nic.in.  Here is the procedure to download the admit card.

ELIGIBILITY 

Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks or master’s degree or law degree Awarded or recognized by any of the universities in Kerala. 

NO. OF VACANCIES and CUTOFF 

A total number of 55 vacancies are anticipated. The vacancies reported during the validity period will be filled from the rank list. A candidate should earn at least 45% marks in the written test and 35% marks in the interview session. The cut-off mark is decided by the concerned authority based on the performance of candidates and vacancies.  

SALARY: 

Salary Range is ₹ 39300-83000

MODE OF SELECTION 

The selection process takes place in three steps. The exam is conducted for 2.25 hours and includes an objective test and a descriptive exam.

1. Objective examination – The total mark for the objective exam is100 and each question will have four choices. You can score one mark for every right answer you attempt. while every wrong answer will carry a penalty of ¼ marks from the total marks obtained. You have to finish the entire exam in 75 minutes. 

2. Descriptive exam. – The exam is conducted for an hour and includes 60 marks in total. The descriptive paper of the candidates is evaluated only if they are included in the shortlist for the interview.

3. Interview: Candidates who have scored a minimum of 45% marks in the objective type exam are shortlisted to attend the interview. Only candidates with a minimum 35% mark in the interview will be considered for the final rank list.
